Black Lip Correction
11/8/99: 55 y/o female presented to my office with "black
lips".
Four days earlier a downtown technician had outlined her lips with a black
iron oxide pigment. At this time I elected to do nothing except prescribe
Retin-A for topical application. She had a history of fever blisters for
which no medication had been prescribed.
11/12/99: I saw the patient for follow-up and apparent at this time was a
moderately severe outbreak of fever blisters (herpes). The black had
changed to the classic "tattoo blue" color on her lips. At this time I
advised her to consult a local plastic surgeon who is a laser tattoo removal
specialist.
2/11/00: The patient presented post laser tattoo removal for two
sessions. She described the laser tattoo removal procedures as
painful "electric shocks" and was unsatisfied with the progress of
the laser removal. I offered her an option of having her lips
correctively colored utilizing the new pigment Blooper in addition to a
natural lip color.
The patient's lips were anesthetized using two passes with a
Microdermabrasion machine and TAG #45 Gel by Unit Dose.
Needles: Standard 12 long taper #5 tight and #5 medium rounds to
line. Shading and filling was done with #6 flat and #14 round
needles. The patient tolerated the procedure well.
2/11/00: At the close of the procedure the patient was photographed and
given post-op instructions. The client will report her progress via email
and telephone until her office appointment in 10 days

Note: The original black pigment was placed outside of
the vermillion border. |
